Network diagnostic tools sometimes trigger antivirus warnings because they monitor network traffic—which is exactly what they're supposed to do. ReteFigo is completely safe. You can add it to your antivirus exclusions. Check the Troubleshoot tab in the app for step-by-step instructions for your specific antivirus.

This usually means a firewall is blocking the local connection. Try:

1. Run the System Compatibility Check (Troubleshoot tab)
2. Add ReteFigo to your Windows Firewall exceptions
3. Try accessing http://127.0.0.1:9999 instead of localhost
4. Make sure no VPN is intercepting local traffic

Different speed tests use different servers and methodologies. ReteFigo uses multiple test servers for accuracy. For best comparison, run both tests at the same time of day and compare averages over multiple tests. Small variations (±10%) are normal.

Bufferbloat is excessive buffering in your network that causes latency spikes during uploads. It's the #1 hidden cause of gaming lag and video call freezing. If you get a grade of C or worse, you likely have bufferbloat. The fix is usually enabling QoS (Quality of Service) on your router—the app will guide you.

ReteFigo works without admin rights, but some features work better with elevated permissions (like detailed process information and raw socket operations). Right-click and "Run as Administrator" for full functionality.

ISPs often measure speeds to their own servers, not to the actual services you use. Run ReteFigo's speed test, bufferbloat test, and time-of-day analysis to gather evidence of real-world performance issues. The ISP Complaint Generator (Pro) can compile this into a formal report.

Use ReteFigo's Time Analysis (Pro) to track speeds throughout the day. If you see consistent slowdowns during peak hours (6-11 PM), that's evidence of congestion or throttling. The ISP Complaint Generator can compile this data into a formal report with pre-written responses to common ISP excuses.

Speed and latency are different things. You can have fast downloads but slow response times. High latency affects gaming, video calls, and web browsing responsiveness. Check for bufferbloat (most common cause) and test your route with traceroute to identify where the delay is happening.

ReteFigo diagnoses problems and provides guidance, but it can't directly change your ISP's service. However, with proper evidence from ReteFigo, you can request fixes, negotiate credits, or file complaints with the FCC. Many users have successfully used ReteFigo data to get their issues resolved.

When you purchase Pro, you receive a license key. Enter it in the License tab to unlock Pro features. The license is tied to your machine but can be transferred if you get a new computer by deactivating it first.
